A Little Halloween Magic: DTTF Opens at Don Roberto’s

Forty Main Event entries, a Costume Contest, and two poker champions made Wednesday, October 28 a memorable opening night at Don Roberto’s . Our new Wednesday home welcomed DTTF with an evening that combined serious competition with Halloween fun—and gave players another opportunity to strengthen their postseason prospects. Don Roberto’s replaces Cantina Valencia on the Wednesday schedule, but the move does not erase anyone’s progress. Statistics from both venues will be combined for Tournament of Champions qualification and venue playoff eligibility. Players who earned points at Cantina Valencia will carry that work into the continuing Wednesday race. Shaolin Slim Becomes Our First Don Roberto’s Champion Shaolin Slim claimed the first DTTF Main Event title at Don Roberto’s, finishing atop the 40-entry field for 55 points . The victory marked Shaolin Slim’s first win of the Fall season, second top-three finish, and third final table, bringing the season total to 214 points . A new venue now has its first champion, and Shaolin Slim has a valuable result to build on down the stretch. Goldilox earned runner-up honors and 49 points , while Frankie finished third for 43 points . Both performances delivered substantial scores on a night when the Wednesday competition found its new home. Fourth place went to The Magician , whose contributions to the evening extended well beyond the poker table. He collected 37 points , recorded a fifth final table of the season, and reached 358 season points . With a third-place position already established at Cantina Valencia, this was a useful addition to an existing Wednesday campaign. Kenny K finished fifth for 36 points , followed by Jerry M in sixth with 35 and Uncle Bernie in seventh with 34 . Jerry M added to an established top-ten standing at Cantina Valencia, while Uncle Bernie secured a fourth final table this season. Lyss took eighth for 33 points , earning a second final table of the Fall. Victor L rounded out the final table in ninth for 32 points . Victor L’s finish was particularly helpful after sitting at the edge of Cantina Valencia’s top 30, making this a meaningful addition toward the combined playoff race. A Welcome to Newer Players Opening night also brought an opportunity to welcome newer faces to the Wednesday game. Frankie made a strong impression in a first recorded Main Event appearance of the Fall season , finishing third against a field of 40. That is an excellent way to begin a season campaign. cmaruffi returned after Monday’s appearance at Bravo, playing a second Fall event and collecting 12 points in 28th place. La Cobra continued an active introduction to the league, making Don Roberto’s a third stop in four days after appearances at Raise the Bar and Bravo. Lombardi won Second Chance , following a 31st-place Main Event finish with a victory worth 10 Second Chance points . It was a reminder that an early exit need not be the final word on the night. Maxwell House finished second for 6 points , and Mike Litwet 2 took third for 3 points . Congratulations to all three for turning another opportunity at the table into a scoring finish. These points count toward the separate Second Chance standings. The Wednesday Race Carries Forward Cantina Valencia and Don Roberto’s statistics will be combined for ToC qualification and the venue playoffs, preserving the value of earlier results and adding fresh importance to every Wednesday still to come. The Magician, Kenny K, and Jerry M all strengthened existing Cantina campaigns with final-table finishes. Shaolin Slim’s victory and Goldilox’s runner-up result added substantial points, while Frankie entered the Fall competition with a strong opening score. The combined standings will determine the Wednesday qualification race. Players are competing toward the top-three points positions for direct ToC qualification , subject to the league’s qualification and duplicate-seat rules, while the top 30 qualify for the venue playoff . That gives players throughout the field a reason to keep showing up. For some, the goal is to strengthen a position near the top. For others, it is to gain ground toward the playoff cutoff and earn an opportunity to advance through the postseason.
