Strawberriegirl Wins, Santa Celebrates, and District’s Championship Race Tightens

Thursday night brought 38 entries to District , with a birthday celebration, a new Fall winner and important movement in the race toward the Tournament of Champions. Strawberriegirl claimed the Main Event championship and 53 points, while Santa celebrated a birthday with another final-table appearance. There was also a change near the top of District’s standings—and a change at the very top of the league. A First Fall Victory for Strawberriegirl Strawberriegirl’s championship was a first Main Event win of the Fall season and a first District final table this season. The 53-point result lifted the venue total from 66 to 119 points , putting Strawberriegirl 16th at District and providing valuable breathing room inside the current playoff field. The victory also brought Strawberriegirl to 250 overall points . One tournament changed both the season résumé and the path toward postseason play. Venture finished second for 47 points , earning a first final table and podium of the Fall in just three Main Event appearances. All three appearances have been at District, and this result brought Venture remarkably close to the playoff line. Brownie completed the podium with 41 points . It was Brownie’s first top-three finish of the Fall and first District final table this season, lifting the venue total to 125 points and 15th place . Thursday’s Final Nine 🥇 Strawberriegirl — 53 points 🥈 Venture — 47 points 🥉 Brownie — 41 points 4th — Rat — 35 points 5th — Coconuts — 34 points 6th — Goldilox — 33 points 7th — Slon — 32 points 8th — Santa — 31 points 9th — RiverEm — 30 points Rat recorded a third District final table of the season. Slon made it two final tables in two District appearances, following the runner-up finish on October 1. Coconuts and RiverEm each reached a first District final table of the Fall. Happy Birthday, Santa! Santa’s eighth-place finish added 31 points , bringing the District total to 160 and keeping Santa fifth in the venue race. More impressively, it marked three consecutive District final tables : third on October 15, second on October 22 and eighth on birthday night. Santa now sits just ten points behind third place , keeping an automatic ToC opportunity within reach. A birthday celebration and another meaningful result made for a good night at District. Happy birthday, Santa—from all of us at Down to the Felt! District Championship Race: Goldilox Moves Into Second Pat M remained District’s leader after finishing 14th for 24 points. The consecutive District victories came to an end, but Pat’s venue total increased to 237 points . Behind Pat, Goldilox’s sixth-place finish changed the order. Those 33 points moved Goldilox from fourth to second with 181 , passing Steve Pa and Mike Litwet 2 . The leading six now stand at: 1. Pat M — 237 points 2. Goldilox — 181 points 3. Steve Pa — 170 points 4. Mike Litwet 2 — 166 points 5. Santa — 160 points 6. Rat — 157 points Pat leads by 56 points , but only 24 points separate second through sixth . Mike is four points behind Steve’s third-place total, Santa is ten back, and Rat is 13 back. The top three at District provide an automatic ToC qualification route, with overlapping qualifications accounted for. These are provisional positions, and Thursday showed how quickly the order can change. Pat Takes the Overall League Lead Pat’s 24 points carried an implication beyond District: Pat now leads the league with 649 points , moving ahead of Heather B , who has 641 . That is an eight-point lead in the race for the overall points champion’s automatic ToC seat. Pat also continues to lead the wins standings with three victories , providing another qualification route alongside the District lead. Qualifying through several routes still means one ToC seat, with overlap affecting how the remaining places are filled. For Strawberriegirl, Thursday’s win was the first step toward the multiple-wins route. At least two victories are required to be eligible, with seats available to the top ten eligible players in wins and overall points breaking ties. A second win would put that route into consideration; Thursday’s victory alone does not secure a ToC seat. The District Playoff Bubble: Venture Gets Within Four The fight to enter the venue championship playoff is especially close. Samurai Jack and Lorraine M each have 77 District points , occupying 29th and 30th after the overall-points tiebreaker. Venture’s runner-up finish brought the venue total to 73 points and 31st place—only four points outside the current playoff field . That makes Thursday’s second place much more than a podium finish. Venture entered with 26 venue points and left within touching distance of postseason eligibility. Slon’s seventh place also mattered here, lifting the District total to 82 points and 27th , just five points above the current cutoff. RiverEm’s ninth place brought the total to 89 and 24th . Players must finish inside District’s top 30 to be eligible for its venue playoff. Venue points are followed by total season Main Event points as the tiebreaker; players still tied at the cutoff qualify together. The venue playoff offers three new ToC seats to the highest finishers who have not already qualified. Already-qualified players can compete as spoilers, with advancement moving down the finishing order until three new players earn their places. There is still plenty to play for, whether the goal is an automatic berth near the top or an opportunity to compete through the playoff. Second Chance: Kenny K Gets the Last Word Kenny K followed a 22nd-place Main Event finish by winning Second Chance , collecting 10 points in that separate competition. Lorraine M finished second for six points , and Ayoo took third for three points . An early Main Event exit doesn’t have to end the evening—or leave a player without something to celebrate. Second Chance points remain separate from Main Event standings and do not change District’s top-three or top-30 qualification positions. Welcome to the Felt, Blindbeard A warm welcome to Blindbeard , who recorded a first Main Event appearance of the Fall season , finishing 20th and earning 17 points after the late-entry adjustment. Thanks for joining us at District—we hope to see you back for another run.
