Tournament Recap

A Royal Night for Lorraine at Amsterdam Alley

Tuesday’s Poker & Pierogies at Amsterdam Alley brought 41 entries together on November 3 for a night that reshaped the venue standings, changed the overall league lead—and delivered a hand worth remembering. Lorraine M made a royal flush at the final table , then finished the evening as Main Event champion. The best hand in poker and the last stack standing: that is quite a Tuesday. Lorraine earned 56 points for the victory, the first Main Event win of Lorraine’s Fall season. The result lifted Lorraine to 157 Amsterdam points and seventh place in the venue standings, while also reaching 514 points overall , tied for seventh across the league. The royal flush supplies the story everyone will remember. The standings show why the rest of Lorraine’s night mattered, too. Sean Takes the Amsterdam Lead Sean W finished second for 50 points , turning a strong night into a change at the top of the Amsterdam championship race. Sean entered Tuesday with 168 venue points and left with 218 , moving from fourth to first. Four final tables in seven Amsterdam appearances have put Sean in the lead—but there is very little room to relax. Nas finished tenth, earning 31 points to reach 209 at Amsterdam. That leaves Nas just nine points behind Sean . Pat M followed the previous Tuesday’s runner-up finish with third place and 44 points . Pat now holds third in the venue standings with 204 , only 14 points off the lead . Those are the current top three positions in the race for Amsterdam’s direct Tournament of Champions qualification places. With first through third separated by just 14 points, the venue championship remains wide open. Pat Moves Back on Top Overall Pat’s podium finish also carried league-wide consequences. Tuesday’s results moved Pat to 721 overall points , overtaking Heather B , who now has 699 . Pat leads by 22 points , putting the overall points championship—and its ToC qualification route—back in sharp focus. At Amsterdam, defending venue leader Wild Bill added one point and slipped to fourth with 192 . Heather holds fifth with 188 . That leaves Bill 12 points behind third-place Pat , with Heather 16 points outside the current top three . Neither is far away. One strong finish could change the order again. Lorraine is now 47 points behind third , close enough for Tuesday’s win to put a meaningful dent in the gap. These remain qualification positions to defend and chase as the regular season continues. Every Point Matters at the Playoff Line The race for Amsterdam’s top-30 venue playoff field is just as tight. Topper finished sixth for 36 points , climbing from 44 venue points to 80 and moving into 28th place . That final-table appearance brought Topper inside the current playoff field. At the cutoff, Don Rodrigo holds 30th with 75 points . Uncle Bernie also has 75 , but sits 31st under the standings’ overall-season-points tiebreaker. One more venue point would move Bernie ahead of that current line. Keena P is immediately behind with 73 points , while Stretch has 70 after adding 28 on Tuesday. The distance between watching the playoff and earning a chance to play through it is only a handful of points. For players outside the direct ToC positions, making that playoff field keeps another qualification route alive. Attendance and every additional finish matter. Welcome to the Felt A warm welcome to Dave S , who recorded a first Main Event appearance of the Fall season Tuesday night. Thanks for joining us—we hope to see you back at the tables. Amsterdam also welcomed several familiar league players for their first Main Event appearances at the venue this season. Among them, Ace Plays made an immediate impression with fifth place and 37 points . Whether it was your first league night or your first visit to Amsterdam, thank you for being part of the game. Samurai Jack Wins Second Chance The Main Event was not the only opportunity to finish the evening with a victory. Samurai Jack won Tuesday’s Second Chance , earning 10 points . Karen Red finished second for six , and Keena completed the podium with three . Samurai Jack’s win brought the season-wide Second Chance total to 31 points , just two behind leader Millz on 33. That gives the separate Second Chance standings another close race to follow. For Keena, the evening produced progress in both competitions: Main Event points near Amsterdam’s playoff cutoff and a podium finish in Second Chance. Thank You, Amsterdam Thank you to Tournament Director Wes Petteway for running Tuesday’s tournament, and to all our dealers for the time, attention and effort that keep the cards moving. Thank you as well to Amsterdam Alley and its staff for hosting another night of free league poker. Please support the venue, enjoy the food and drinks, and show the staff some appreciation—their hospitality makes these Tuesday nights possible. Congratulations to Lorraine on the championship and the royal flush, to Samurai Jack on the Second Chance win, and to everyone who moved closer to a season goal. We’ll see you next Tuesday for more Poker & Pierogies. Check in by 7:30 PM for the early arrival bonus , with cards in the air at 8 PM .
