Tournament Recap

Costco Gary Delivers at Nip n Tuck as the Championship Race Tightens

Thirty-five entries filled the field at Nip n Tuck on Thursday, October 29, with Wes Petteway directing the action and another valuable round of points on the line. By the end of the night, Costco Gary had claimed the victory, while the battle for automatic Tournament of Champions positions grew even tighter. Gary earned 50 points for the win—a major turnaround after finishing 37th at Nip n Tuck the previous Thursday. That is the beauty of a weekly tournament: last week’s early exit does not get a vote in this week’s finish. Gary returned, reached the final table, and finished the job for a first Main Event victory of the Fall season. Anthony G finished runner-up for 44 points , recording a first podium finish of the season. The result brought Anthony’s Nip n Tuck total to 143 points , good for ninth in the venue standings and a much stronger position heading into November. Third place belonged to Lil Kujo , who collected 38 points in just a third appearance of the season. That finish carried particular significance beyond the podium: Lil Kujo now has 70 venue points , only one point behind the current playoff cutoff. A trophy-worthy night also became a serious step toward postseason eligibility. A Final Table With Plenty at Stake JD took fourth for 32 points, following up last week’s season debut with a first final table. Angler220 finished fifth for 31, and Vin The Realtor earned sixth and 30 points. Seventh-place finisher Papi The Magicman added 29 points, Yohan collected 28 in eighth, and Kat completed the nine-player final table with 27 points. Those finishes mattered at several levels of the standings. Papi remains firmly in the championship chase, Yohan closed ground on the automatic qualification positions, and Kat’s first final table of the Fall season brought the playoff line within reach. The Venue Championship Race: Two Points Separate Third and Fourth Ted DiBiase retained the Nip n Tuck points lead after finishing 11th and adding 24 points. Ted now stands at 215 , holding a 42-point advantage over Fred M , whose 16th-place finish brought the second-place total to 173 . Behind them, the pressure is building. Misdeal remains third with 166 points , but No Lie is now only two points back at 164 . No Lie finished three places ahead of Misdeal on Thursday, trimming a five-point deficit to two. Yohan’s final-table appearance moved the fifth-place total to 161 , just five points behind third . Papi sits sixth with 153 , only 13 points off that same position . That leaves third through sixth separated by just 13 points. With the top three at the end of the competition earning automatic ToC seats, a few finishing positions next Thursday could change who sits inside that line. Ted has breathing room in the venue championship race, but none of these positions is secured yet. The Playoff Bubble Is Just as Tight The other crucial target is the top 30 , which determines eligibility for Nip n Tuck’s venue playoff. ECC currently occupies 30th with 71 points . Immediately outside are Deku and Lil Kujo, tied on 70 . Kat follows with 65 , while Angler220 has 64 venue points. For Lil Kujo, Thursday’s podium brought playoff eligibility within a single point. For Kat and Angler220, the final table also supplied a timely push toward the cutoff. JD’s 32-point night lifted the venue total to 58 , keeping another developing postseason challenge alive. Gary’s win, meanwhile, brought the Nip n Tuck total to 110 points and 16th place . The victory strengthens a current playoff position, but a weekly win alone does not guarantee a ToC seat. Gary now has one Fall Main Event win; the separate wins-based qualification route requires at least two victories and a place among the league’s top 10 eligible winners. For players who miss an automatic berth, the venue playoff remains another opportunity: three finishers who have not already qualified advance to the ToC , with already-qualified players competing as spoilers. There is plenty left to play for on both sides of the top-three line. A Welcome to New Faces A warm welcome to Ja , whose first recorded result came Thursday at Nip n Tuck. Ja finished 28th and earned the first seven points of the season. We also welcomed BigMikeBoogie and Stretch for their first Nip n Tuck appearances of the Fall season after playing elsewhere in the league. New players and visiting familiar faces both help keep the Thursday game growing. Thank You, Nip n Tuck Thank you to Nip n Tuck and the venue staff for hosting another night of free league poker, to Wes Petteway for directing the tournament, and to all the dealers who contributed their time and attention to keeping the game moving. Thank you as well to every player who joined the field and made the night possible. Congratulations to Costco Gary on the win, Anthony G on the runner-up finish, and Lil Kujo on third. November arrives with a clear message from the standings: the championship lead matters, the automatic-seat race is tight, and even one point can make a difference at the playoff bubble. Thursday poker at Nip n Tuck starts at 8 PM , with the early-arrival bonus available for players checked in by 7:30 PM . Come ready—there is still plenty of season left to shape.
